The short version

Vienna Tourism Guide earns a commission when a reader books accommodation or an activity through a link on this site. The commission is paid by the booking provider, not by you — the price is the same as booking direct. It never affects what the guides recommend.

How this site is funded

Booking links here are handled by Stay22, a booking partner. Its script rewrites accommodation and activity links as the page loads, so that a booking made afterwards can be credited to this site, and the provider pays us a commission on it.

Because that rewriting happens in your browser after the page has loaded, we cannot mark individual links when an article is published, and you cannot tell from a URL which ones are monetised. That is why every guide carries a disclosure at the top rather than a label on particular links: it is the only version that is accurate on every page.

In practice most links in these guides go to museums, transport operators and venue box offices, which earn us nothing at all. Several guides tell you to book direct precisely because it is cheaper. The commission arrangement is with booking platforms, not with individual hotels, restaurants or attractions.

What is not happening

No advertising network runs on this site. There are no sponsored posts and no paid placements: nobody has paid, in money or in kind, to be included here, recommended, or left out, and no business sees an article before it is published.

What this means for your data

Stay22 does not set a cookie. It identifies your device from characteristics of your browser and stores an identifier in your browser’s local storage, which means clearing cookies alone does not clear it. The consent banner classes it as a marketing service, so the script does not load until you allow marketing, and declining changes nothing about what you can read.
